Pranav Dhanawade, a 15-year-old opening batsman of KC Gandhi High School, Kalyan, Mumbai broke a century-old cricketing record after scoring an unbeaten 652 off 199 balls in an inter-school cricket tournament organised by the Mumbai Cricket Association on Monday.
Before that Highest induvidual score in any class of cricket 628* AEJ Collins Clark's House in 1899.Dhanawade’s knock included 78 fours and 30 sixes and it is now the highest individual score in any form of representative cricket, surpassing the unbeaten 628 made by AEJ Collins for Clark’s House in 1899.
While he was still not out, his team reach 956 runs for the loss of just one wicket and number three batsman Siddhesh Patil was unbeaten on 100.
The class 10th student’s father, Prashant Dhanawade, is an auto-rickshaw driver and was present at the ground when his son smashed the record books with his unbelievable innings.
"A father of one of his friends called me and asked, 'you are not at the ground?'. So I immediately rushed to the venue. It's obviously a very proud day. It's a reward for 11 years of his hard work," Prashant told the Times of India.
After Sarfaraz Khan’s 439, Arman Jaffer’s 498 in 2010 and Prithvi Shaw’s 546 in 2014,undoubtably Dhanwade has added another gem to Mumbai’s junior cricket.
